Welcome to Cartier, Crystallization of Time.
Gemstones, born from immense periods of time, and design, inspired by natural wonders and cultures worldwide, are crystallized in Cartier's jewelry, where exceptional craftsmanship fuses the blessings of earth and humanity.
This exhibition explores Cartier’s pioneering spirit and singular creative vision from the beginning of the 20th century until today.
It brings heritage pieces from the Cartier Collection and Archives documents, together with contemporary creations from private collections, usually hidden from the public eye, to analyze the continuous evolution of the Cartier style and its powerful cultural and creative dimension. It represents, in particular, a unique attempt to broaden the view of Cartier designs from the 1970s onward.
You will explore the world of Cartier’s creations through three perspectives: “Material Transformation and Colors”, “Forms and Designs”, and “Universal Curiosity”, all revolving around the axis of Time.
The architectural firm New Material Research Laboratory (NMRL), co-founded by artist Hiroshi Sugimoto and architect Tomoyuki Sakakida, has curated the exhibition design.
This exhibition also collaborates with the Korean Traditional Culture Research Institute Onjium, a sister institution of Arumjigi Culture Keepers Foundation. You will discover various Korean traditional materials and artworks on display.
The journey starts with the artwork “Time Reversed”, created by Hiroshi Sugimoto.
Enjoy your visit!
